When it gets a bit colder, turn off your heating. Open a window, and make sure you have a good couple of blankets. Let the room get colder, put the blankets over you in bed. Stay that way till you warm up. It gets cold on your face but warm on your body, making you appreciate warmth more, and has a calming effect.
The US is near the equator, and most people are used to warmer temperatures, so don't do this when it's the middle of winter. Start slowly.
